Summary

Full Job Description

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for DHA for Certain Comp Service Positions to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: Serves as a Supervisory Police Officer (Watch Commander), responsible to the Branch Supervisor, Law Enforcement Division under the Directorate of Emergency Services (DES).

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience with a federal, state, municipal, local, or private protective organization which includes (1) work directing the activities of subordinates engaged in the protection of life, property, and the civil rights of citizens; (2) responding to calls for police assistance and emergency situations; (3) conducting investigations of crimes and suspected criminal activities; (4) using word processing and web-based law enforcement computer programs to write or query reports.

The definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed equivalent to the next lower grade/position in Federal Service (GS-09). Major Duties:

  • Apprehend violators as required by applicable laws or regulations.
  • Ensure all patrols comply with organizational SOPs, policies, current law enforcement techniques and skills.
  • Conduct short-term investigations on criminal cases.
  • Conduct patrols to enforce Federal, State and Department of Defense, Department of the Army and local regulations.
  • Respond to emergency calls, complaints and other calls for service.
  • Serve as a Supervisory Police Officer (Watch Commander) over civilian and military police personnel.
  • Provide directions to subordinate law enforcement supervisors and officers on patrol assignments.
  • Coordinate emergency responses between law enforcement, security, fire, and other emergency units.
  • Responsible for reviewing law enforcement reports and supporting documentation for completeness and accuracy.
