Full Job Description

The selectee for this position will serve as a Nuclear Chief Test Engineer in the Nuclear Engineering and Planning Department of PSNS and IMF.

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a Professional Shift Test Engineer overseeing or managing projects related to nuclear reactor plant test operations on naval vessels.

• You will oversee all aspects of the Naval Shipyard Nuclear Power Program within the assigned Area of Responsibility (AOR).
• You will supervise all testing and Assistant Chief Test Engineers (ACTE), Shift Test Supervisors (STS), and Shift Test Engineers (STE) for the assigned ship.
• You will develop action plans that involve the ship and other departments and various levels of command personnel.
• You will specify safe reactor plant conditions for all production work, controlling all work performed by the Shipyard on the nuclear propulsion plant.
• You will specify test requirements necessary to certify proper completion of all work for which the Nuclear Engineering and Planning Department
• You will plan, manage, and execute the reactor test program, resolving new problems as they arise.
• You will provide management control of nuclear engineering work involved with the testing, installation, monitoring, operation, and maintenance of naval vessel propulsion plant systems.
