Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team in the Navy's safety command to use math, statistics, and AI for analyzing data on risks and hazards, helping to improve safety programs through advanced modeling.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY OPERATIONS RESEARCH ANALYST (AI) in the NAVSAFECOM.

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-13) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience includes duties related to the following: Applying mathematical or statistical theory and methods to collect, organize, interpret, and summarize numerical data to provide usable information using a background in statistical analysis/operations research/mathematics; Conducting research and analysis at a professional level using mathematical/statistical information; Demonstrating knowledge of data sources, mishap and hazard reporting requirements, data collection systems, historical safety studies, research and analysis, and overall scope and depth of naval safety programs; Applying a basic understanding of the use of machine AI and statistical analysis to create models for risk control; Demonstrating oral and written communication skills to be able to communicate complex information effectively to a wide range of audiences.

  • You will maintain responsibility for handling various administrative supervisory duties and responsibilities over the Code 515 workforce consisting of civilian and contractor personnel.
  • You will manage the command's Data Modeling Division (515) specifically dealing with advanced modeling and machine learning/AI techniques.
  • You will supervise, direct, coordinate, and provide guidance for division personnel ensuring work assignments are understood and completed effectively and on schedule.
  • You will identify ways to improve production and increase the quality of life and work performed by the division.
  • You will coordinate data modeling and data analystics efforts.
