Base salary range: $88,520 - $115,079

Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves leading a team of engineers to oversee testing and operations of nuclear reactors on naval ships during maintenance and overhauls at a shipyard in Maine.
It requires managing budgets, ensuring safety and compliance, and solving complex technical problems to keep projects on schedule.

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY NUCLEAR ENGINEER in the Nuclear Test Engineering Division, Nuclear Engineering and Planning Department of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.
***TEMPORARY PROMOTION NOT TO EXCEED 1 YEAR AND MAY BECOME PERMANENT without further competition*** In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience as a qualified Shift Test Engineer.
Experience utilizing the principles of nuclear engineering including metallurgy, thermodynamics, fluid flow, nuclear physics, electrical, heat transfer, reactor theory and chemistry.
Experience reviewing reactor plant manuals and associated component technical manuals for accuracy and needed revisions.
Experience managing all aspects of nuclear reactor plant test programs as it relates to overhaul, maintenance repair, and operation of naval nuclear vessels.
Experience analyzing, evaluating, and resolving highly complex technical issues in order to meet scheduled completion dates.
