Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves leading a team of engineers in planning, overseeing, and ensuring the safe refueling of nuclear reactors on naval ships at a shipyard.
It requires hands-on supervision during shifts to coordinate operations, resolve issues, and maintain safety standards.

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY NUCLEAR ENGINEER in the Nuclear Refueling Engineering Division (2370) of the Nuclear Engineering and Planning Department (Code 2300) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience with refueling equipment to include tasks such as engineering planning, development of designs and specifications, issue of instructions to fabricate, test, modify and checkout reactor servicing equipment and systems.
Experience providing on site job support and management oversight to various nuclear support training and operations.
Experience in extensive advanced nuclear engineering concepts, principles, and practices, with proven ability to manage, coordinate, and review activities related to nuclear plant refueling/defueling.
Skilled in providing expert technical and engineering guidance while effectively interfacing with overhaul, maintenance, and other repair organizations and operations Experience as a Shift Refueling Engineer a including successful Shift Refueling Engineering re-qualification or cross qualification, demonstrating continued proficiency and adaptability in critical refueling/defueling operations.
Experience as a subject matter expert in letter, substance and intent of the Nuclear Reactor Servicing Manual, Manual for the Control of Refueling, other manuals applicable to a particular refueling type and associated Component Technical Manuals or similar.
