Summary

This job is for a high-level deputy director at a U.S.

Army research lab in New Hampshire focused on cold regions engineering, where you'll lead teams, guide research projects, and advise on strategy for scientific studies in areas like biology, engineering, and earth sciences.

Key Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience at GS-14 level or equivalent, including leadership of supervised employees

About the Position: Serves as Deputy Director for Cold Regions Research Engineer Laboratory (CRREL) located in Hanover, NH This position is being filled as a Supervisory Interdisciplinary DB-05 (GS-15), which may be filled under any of the listed Job Family series.

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

This position is covered by the Science and Technology Laboratory Personnel Management Demonstration Project at the DB-05 (equivalent to GS-15). In accordance with the Federal Register Vol. 63, No.

57, dated March 25, 1998, an employee of the Laboratory Demonstration project must have a current average performance score of 2.5 or above in order to be selected for promotion.

All applicants currently employed under a Laboratory Demonstration Project must include their most recent performance appraisal score as part of their electronic resume.

  • Serves as the senior advisor to the Director of the Laboratory.
  • Functions as a mentor for Board of Directors, Junior Program, Budget Council, and Business Development Group.
  • Provides strategic direction for the laboratory’s research across multiple locations.
  • Establishes and enforces government policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Manages the oversight of laboratory operations.
  • Promotes a capable and successful work force.
  • Oversees the organization’s operating budget and expenditures.
  • Builds relationships with internal and external contacts.
