Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team of IT specialists at a naval warfare center, where you'll create long-term technology plans, analyze systems to suggest improvements, and ensure IT setups align with the organization's goals.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (POLICY & PLANNING) in the ACIO/Information Technology (IT) Division of NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV KEYPORT WA.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-05 OR GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience leading a group of Information Technology Specialists in providing direct IT support, developing long-range goals and objectives, applying state-of-the-art IT methodologies to implement computer system designs, and performing analysis, emulation, simulation, and what-if studies to develop operational proposals and recommendations for IT system advancements.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will develop long-range IT goals and objective that are consistent with Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) Division, Keyport, NUWC, and NAVSEA's strategic quality, right-sizing, and efficiency goals and objective.
  • You will provide direct support to commands for special studies or new concept exploration.
  • You will apply state-of-the-art Information technology methodologies used to implement computer system designs.
  • You will perform analysis, emulation, simulation, and what-if studies to present practice IT system solutions, operational processes and in use technology baselines.
  • You will apply visionary and novel approaches to develop proposals and recommendations for IT system advancement.
  • You will lead operational effectiveness studies, activity-based cost modeling studies and business case analysis to existing and proposed improvements to function and business processes.
  • You will prepare hardware and software specifications for contract work, evaluation of contract work, and establishment of test requirements and validation procedures to measure performance quality and reliability.
  • You will develop and execute comprehensive test plans to validate conceptual designs and provide IT system and technology coordination services for the Division to develop or implement IT interfaces with external organization in the region.
