Summary

This job involves leading a team to manage cybersecurity for Navy IT systems, ensuring networks and data stay secure against threats while following federal rules.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (SECURITY) in the IT Department of COMMANDER, NAVY REGION NORTHWEST.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying cybersecurity principles to manage an organization-wide cybersecurity program, including the development and implementation of policies and procedures based on applicable DoD, NIST, and other federal directives to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data.

2) Managing the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process to guide information systems through the full lifecycle of Assessment and Authorization (A&A) to achieve and maintain an Authorization to Operate (ATO).

3) Overseeing a command-level vulnerability management program that includes conducting risk assessments, directing the remediation of vulnerabilities, and ensuring the overall security posture of network architecture and defensive measures.

4) Performing supervisory duties for a team of cybersecurity professionals, such as planning and assigning work, setting priorities and performance standards, and providing technical guidance on complex cybersecurity issues.

  • You will establish and implement systems security contingency plans and disaster recovery procedures.
  • You will formulate agency-level IT security program initiatives in response to critical IT security issues.
  • You will facilitate the gathering, analysis, and preservation of evidence used in the prosecution of computer crimes.
  • You will assess security events to determine impact and implement corrective actions. Manages systems security evaluations, audits, and reviews.
  • You will be responsible for ensuring effective position management when assigning work, structuring and staffing positions, reorganizing, or assuming new responsibilities.
