Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a housing division at a military base in Virginia, where you'll manage and improve on-base and off-base housing, barracks, and related facilities for soldiers and their families.

You'll act as an expert advisor to base leaders, handle planning for construction and community development, and resolve issues with housing programs.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes serving as a subject matter expert on housing facility matters; addressing and resolving critical issues related to housing management programs; assisting in the development of overall housing management plans for non-privatized housing functions; providing oversight for major construction projects and the execution of community development plans.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Major Duties:

  • Serves as the Housing Division Chief and the Residential Communities Initiative (RCI) Manager at an extremely large multi-mission installation.
  • Utilizes knowledge of housing, barracks facilities, asset management, and residential development to engage in the planning, design, revitalization, financing, and improvement of housing, barracks.
  • Serves as subject matter expert and advisor to the DPW and the Garrison commander to address and resolve installation, local community, state, and private sector issues for on-post, off-post, and privatized housing and barracks.
