This job involves leading a team of engineers and staff at a naval shipyard to oversee the design, construction, and repair of submarines and military vessels, ensuring projects stay on schedule and within budget.
A good fit would be an experienced engineer with strong leadership skills who enjoys managing technical teams in a high-stakes environment like defense contracting.
It requires hands-on knowledge of shipbuilding processes and the ability to solve complex production issues.
You will serve as a Supervisory General Engineer in the Engineering Department of the Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Conversion and Repair of SUPSHIP.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the grade level (GS-13) or pay band (NH-03) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional Engineer demonstrating effective written and oral communication skills suitable for engaging in constructive conversations and reports; working knowledge of submarine, military or highly technical construction processes and test programs; working knowledge of contractor specification requirements, technical data, scheduling methods, and cost/performance reports; basic proficiency in employing methods to prevent, investigate, analyze, plan and implement corrective actions for production problems and scheduling conflicts; and working knowledge of personal computers for networking, word processing, data analysis and database use.
