Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team to plan and manage forest protection and wildfire prevention on Marine Corps bases in North Carolina, ensuring safety and coordination with other agencies.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: planning and executing forest protection and wildlands fire management programs, coordinating fire management activities, and integrating these programs and activities with interagency partners to support the mission.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will serve as the subject matter expert and technical advisor to the Head of the Environmental Conservation Branch and coordinates forest protection and wildlands fire management planning.
  • You will assist with program oversight by working with Marine Corps higher headquarters and other forest and natural resources management program personnel to develop policies, objectives, and to resolve issues.
  • You will provide technical and administrative supervision to a fire staff consisting of a Fire Management Specialist, Forestry Technicians, and Forestry Heavy Equipment Operators.
  • You will direct and supervise all phases of budget management to assure balance in the section at varying levels of funding.
