Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team of firefighters while overseeing emergency medical services, including training, equipment maintenance, and quality programs at a Navy base in Coronado, California.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a Supervisory Firefighter in the Fire and Emergency Services of NB CORONADO.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Implementing and/ overseeing various Emergency Medical Services (EMS) program functions (i.e.

infection control, equipment maintenance, finance, continuing education, etc.) in accordance with all applicable federal, state, local, and command rules and regulations; 2) Utilizing and/or repairing specialized medical equipment (i.e.

AEDs, defibrillators, cardiac monitoring devices, etc.) to ensure proper operation and availability; 3) Administering a training program for Emergency Medical Services (i.e.

ensuring proper certifications, conducting training, developing training budget, etc.); 4) Providing the full range of supervisory services (i.e.

assigning work, setting priorities, recommending personnel actions, etc.). NOTE: YOUR ANSWER MUST BE FULLY SUPPORTED BY THE EXPERIENCE DESCRIBED IN YOUR RÉSUMÉ.

This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications for the GS-11: Officer III, Fire Instructor II, Fire Inspector II, HAZMAT Incident Commander, Airport Firefighter, and National Registry EMT-Paramedic.

These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or Pro Board to meet the requirement.

  • You will administer a Quality Assurance and Improvement Program (QA/IP) aimed at improving an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) program.
  • You will coordinate emergency medical services (EMS) related training activities for EMS personnel.
  • You will manage the emergency medical training to ensure firefighters are current with their Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) training.
  • You will assign work to junior firefighters or employees based on priorities, requirements, and capabilities.
  • You will manage the development and implementation of an emergency medical services risk management plan.
