Full Job Description

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY FIRE PROTECTION SPECIALIST in the FEDERAL FIRE DEPARTMENT of NAVBASE POINT LOMA.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Determining training program requirements for all levels (basic, refresher, advanced, and specialized) of fire protection and prevention, emergency medical, and dispatch functions; 2) Evaluating the effectiveness of training programs and recommends improvements; 3) Preparing budget estimates for training programs; 4) Investigating and/or reviewing fires to determine origin/cause; 5) Providing the full range of supervisory services for subordinate employees (i.e.

determining training requirements, administering EEO principles, ensuring staff safety, etc.).

Firefighter Certifications: This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications for this position: Airport Firefighter, Fire Officer III, Fire Instructor III, Fire Inspector II, HAZMAT Incident Commander and National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) Basic.

These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement.

  • You will assess agency compliance with law, regulations, policies, and requirements related to fire prevention of fire protection programs.
  • You will develop training and safety programs in accordance with various regulatory agencies (e.g., Department of Defense, Occupational Health andSafety Administration, National Fire Protection Association).
  • You will identify hazardous conditions or practices to determine appropriate corrective action.
  • You will identify performance, progress, disciplinary, and training needs of crew members.
  • You will prepare lesson plans for student firefighter training.
