About the Position: Serves as the Chief of the Facility Management Division (FMD) for a medical treatment facility (MTF).

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal Service which includes: -1) coordinating projects performed in-house or by contract in a medical facility; 2) assisting with developing building maintenance objectives or long-term planning; 3) analyzing data to improve facility management operations in a healthcare setting AND 4) managing and overseeing the planning, design, and construction of projects in medical facilities such as health clinics, dental clinics, veterinary treatment facilities, troop aid stations, or medical administrative facilities.

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

Major Duties:

  • Integrate facility management programs and projects with security, environmental, safety, fire prevention, space allocation, and specific medical operations.
  • Provide interpretation of regulatory and statutory limitations applied in specific cases.
  • Direct the project management processes involved in developing medical and dental projects, including design, minor construction, renewal/repair, and technical functions.
  • Follow projects through completion, determining status, assuring proper priorities, resolving problems, and evaluating results.
  • Provide program oversight for transportation motor pool for the medical treatment facility (MTF) activities.
  • Work closely with the Resource Management Division to plan financial requirements for the upcoming fiscal year.
  • Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work.
