Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team of technicians in planning, installing, and testing submarine weapon systems and other equipment during ship overhauls at a naval shipyard.

It requires supervising projects, coordinating with various departments, and ensuring everything runs smoothly to meet deadlines and quality standards.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN for COMBAT SYSTEMS SHAPEC/WATERFRONT ENGINEERING REVIEW BRANCH in the COMBAT SYSTEMS DIVISION, ENGINEERING AND PLANNING DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience providing expertise for major engineering project associated with the functional design, performance of various types of submarine weapon systems and components.

Experience with SHAPEC/preplanning. Experience directing the planning, installation, and testing of equipment and systems involved during a ship's overhaul period.

Experience preparing and reviewing correspondence, such as Job Summaries, Task group Instruments (TGI's) Deficiency Logs (DL's), Deficiency Reports (DR's), Technical Reports, Estimates, Status Reports, Instructions and Procedures.

Experience in negotiating projects with managers and ship force support to gain approval and testing authority.

  • You will act as principal liaison with Shipyard codes.
  • You will prepare and issue detailed manning requirement schedules for planning and executing assigned availabilities.
  • You will instruct, advise, and direct the personnel assigned.
  • You will continually improve processes to improve quality and quantity of work.
  • You will approve leave in accordance with policies of the Engineering and Planning Department.
