Serves as the maintenance, repair, overhaul (MRO) supervisor for a major product portfolio of the National Airspace System within AJW-L900.
To qualify for this position at the FV-J (FG/GS-14) level, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the FV-I (FG/GS-13) level.
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.
Specialized Experience includes: experience with supply chain management, supply support, and financial management functions; experience repairing complex electronic assemblies in a Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) environment to include leading initiatives to improve repair and/or testing procedures for systems assigned; experience integrating program goals, priorities, and values; communicate effectively to targeted audiences; experience in engineering functions such as design, development, evaluation, testing, installation and maintenance of electronic equipment; ensuring that fabrication, testing, repair and modification services are provided in support of the National Airspace System (NAS) systems and subsystems; applying a comprehensive knowledge of the technical aspects of the work directed, a detailed knowledge of budget, human resource, and other administrative policies and procedures, and a detailed understanding of the objectives of the organizational unit.

This position resides within a functional MRO Group at the FAA Logistics Center.
The incumbent oversees key aspects of the group's electronics repair activities required to accomplish the core supply chain mission of the organization.
This includes critical resource allocation decisions for parts, adjusting work assignments and/or staffing levels based on mission needs and budgetary limitations, and providing expert guidance to the MRO Group and other functional groups on matters relating to their assigned product portfolio.
The MRO Team supervisor is directly accountable to the manager of the functional MRO Group. Typically directs the work of subordinate employees for more than one program within a major subdivision.
Work usually includes a mixture of routine and complex projects/programs based on the objectives of the group.
Managerial duties typically affect employees and managers in more than one program, and include planning; communicating the organization's vision and objectives; setting priorities; assigning tasks and responsibilities; monitoring and evaluating performance; coaching and developing employee capabilities; approving leave; and taking, recommending or approving corrective/disciplinary actions, as appropriate.
Defines, plans, and organizes assigned budget, staff, and other resources to accomplish objectives for more than one program.
Manages budget and either reallocates resources among programs or requests additional resources, as needed.
Performs critical aspects of the budget planning process, including projecting short-term and long-term future needs and justifying resource requirements.
Actively tracks labor and material costs for assigned MRO operations within their work centers. Performs analyses and takes corrective actions when costs deviate from forecasted business plans.
Proactively tracks parts and equipment needs for work center and communicates needs with supply chain function.
Ensures requests and expenditures for tools and equipment are within established budget for MRO team.
Applies an advanced knowledge of the technical aspects of the work directed, an advanced knowledge of budget, human resource, and other administrative policies and procedures, and an advanced understanding of the objectives of the group.
Requires knowledge of the techniques, theories, and characteristics of electronics such as knowledge of the fundamentals of electronic theory, digital design fundamentals, elementary physics, electronic design.
Requires the ability to apply that knowledge to duties involved in Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul functions such as engineering, design, development, evaluation, testing, installation, and maintenance of electronic equipment.
Requires knowledge of supply chain management, supply support, and financial management functions to accomplish the mission of this position.
Oversees all aspects of planning and execution for production within their work centers.
Collaborates with production control function to achieve optimal levels of work in progress and ensure that the team is working to order point.
Utilizes established planning tools to routinely assess the status and health of work center operations.
Reports production plans and status regularly to internal and external stakeholders and adjusts as needed to meet customer demand.
Contacts are primarily within the organizational unit, major subdivision and the LOB/SO with subordinates, peers, and higher-level managers to discuss the status of projects/programs and to plan for the future.
Engages with external stakeholders across the FAA to include the field, second-level engineering, and program offices to communicate work center repair and inventory status for critical parts and receive feedback on potential quality issues.
