Full Job Description

This position provides direction for media support to VISN 7 Public Affairs, Ralph H. Johnson VA Health Care System, and other entities of the Department of Veterans Affairs.

The Supervisory Audiovisual Production Specialist is responsible for independently utilizing multimedia-based tools and information to support and enhance communications processes.

This position supervises Medical Media staff which includes Visual Information Specialists, Pathways Intern, and a Medical Photographer.

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, .

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

For a GS-12 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-11. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service.

An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials.

If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement.

In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience - .

Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Visually interpreting a variety of objects, materials, ideas, and information covering a wide range of general and specialized subject matter relating to the primary mission and organizational functions of the units served.

Using various cameras, photographic media, lighting techniques and video production equipment.

Using broadband transmission of video and audio data over internet connections to one or more specific IP addresses to multiple audiences.

This experience must be supported by your resume to be creditable.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week.

Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.

Major Duties:

Specialized Experience Plans, organizes, and directs the work of writers, editors, actors, narrators, musicians, set directors, audio and lighting technicians, camera operators, and other associated technical personnel to produce, select, and to arrange the actions, sounds, and visual effects required to finish for the finished production.

Develops appropriate on and off-screen narration to convey information to the desired audience. Maintaining equipment and ensuring video teleconferences there are properly set up.

Assists clients with instructional design of media productions, e.g., educational objectives, target audience description, script design, formative evaluation, etcetera.

Responsible for studio and on-site photography to support the overall mission.

Utilizes photo editing software such as Adobe Photoshop to manipulate digital photos, such as resizing, reshaping, cropping adding text, and or enhancing colors and features.

Education Udergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study- Photography, radio or television production, motion picture production, or other fields related to the position.

Advanced training in as vocational school, thechnical institute, or art institute above the high school level in one of the fields listed above.

You will sit while using the computer; long periods of computer use may produce eyestrain. Standard relief with work breaks, change in positioning, and stress release exercises are encouraged.
