This job involves leading a team that supports the well-being of military personnel and their families through programs addressing work-life balance, financial needs, and community resources on a large Air Force base in Nevada.

Conditions of Employment Continued: This is a Mission Essential (ME) position performing a Mission Critical Function (MCF) which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions.

IAW, DoDI 3020-42, Defense Continuity Programs. This position is designated as a key position IAW AFI 36-129.

Duties of this position are essential to the accomplishment of wartime/contingency operations.

Incumbents of key positions must be removed from their military recall status if alternative for filling of the position during an emergency are not available.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions, GS-0101 Series.

BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Successfully completed a bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

NOTE- must provide copy of official transcripts at time of application OR Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems.

Examples of specialized experience includes provides management oversight for activities assigned to the Force Support Squadron and involved in organizing, coordinating, directing, and overseeing the Airman and Family Readiness Program.

The position serves as principal advisor on work/life matters and as the policy advisor in the development and implementation of work/life services and activities.

The incumbent will provide services directly, affect a large or complex, multi-mission military installation (exceeding 4000 serviced population).

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible.

One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.

NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Professional knowledge of concepts, principles, theories, and practices relating to social or behavioral science.

Knowledge of financial, budget, resource management practices and principles, and analytical and evaluative methods and techniques.

Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, and EEO regulations, practices and procedures.

Skill in effectively organizing and utilizing community resources within the program framework to augment the program to meet installation objectives.

Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization.

Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.

You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:

Continued from Summary section: The primary purpose of this position is: To exercise first level supervisory and managerial authority over the Airman and Family Readiness Center assigned to the 432 Support Squadron.

Serve as consultant to commanders and installation level leadership on matters related to personal and family readiness.

Provide a wide range of work/life services to units and their leadership on individual, family and community issues to develop resilient, ready Airmen.

These services include, but are not limited to, deployment support, crisis and disaster response support, career, transition, relocation, financial assistance, personal and work life education, exceptional family member support, emergency response/assistance, family life education and other work and life service and activities provided to military members, retirees, Department of Defense (DoD) civilian members, and their families.

Duties: Plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of the Airman and Family Readiness Center. Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities.

Represents the Force Support Squadron with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.

Establishes, defines, and implements requirements for Airman and Family Readiness programs to ensure operations are in line with regulatory and fiscal requirements, support goals, and mission requirements.
