Full Job Description
Coordinates and supervises probation services including specialized field probation, court intake, detention intake, placement, and diversion programs. Provides guidance, support, and training to assigned unit staff to ensure that Court directives and department policies are carried out. Supervises and trains casework supervisors in the field and probation, specialized services, or intake and diversion offices. Participates in the development of department policy and procedure and develops specialized programming for high-risk probationers. Assists in the development of grants and requests for proposal. Participates or chairs department committees and assists with interagency collaborative efforts.

Requirements
- Trains, supports, monitors, and assists Program Supervisors in daily supervisory duties of assigned program areas.
- Trains, supports, and monitors activities of subordinate staff of field probation, specialized, court intake, detention intake, placement, and diversion programs.
- Monitors and develops policies and procedures as needed for field probation, specialized, court intake, detention intake, placement, and diversion programs.
- Ensures that programs are staffed with appropriate personnel.
- Ensures required supervision data is collected properly.
- Oversees the program budget and manages department service contracts.
- Participates in departmental meetings of planning and development and reports to Boards as required or necessary.
- Assists in the development of grants and requests for proposal, assists with interagency collaborative efforts, and participates or chairs department committees.
- Conducts performance evaluations, formulates improvement plans, and monitors and evaluates professional behavior in the workplace.
- Assists in their absence or provides any support service to Deputy Assistant Directors.
- Serves as liaison between assigned service area, parents, Court, law enforcement, school districts, community agencies, and other professional disciplines.
- Performs all other related duties involved in the operation of Juvenile Services as assigned or required.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree.
Four (4) years of casework experience with one (1) year of supervisory experience.
Ability to supervise various programs with employees of varying work levels and education requirements.
Must be eligible for certification by the Texas Juvenile Justice Department.
Valid driver's license and auto liability insurance.
Knowledge of applicable statutes.
Knowledge of specialized programming, including substance abuse and mental treatment, is helpful.
Casework experience with intensive, high-risk clients is helpful.
Computer proficiency and knowledge and casework background necessary.

Must be able to use non-violent physical restraint to subdue clients when there is threat of injury.
