This summer internship places law students in the Architect of the Capitol's Office of General Counsel, where they'll handle real legal tasks like research, writing briefs, and assisting with court preparations on Capitol Hill.
It's ideal for first- or second-year law students eager to explore federal law, litigation, and public service careers while building practical skills.
Participants gain hands-on experience, networking, and training in a supportive government environment.
The AOC has unique and exciting opportunities to serve as a Law Clerk during the Summer Internship Program, which offers hands on professional experience, networking, training and most of all exposure to careers in public service, on Capitol Hill.
The OGC is interested in law students with a knowledge of or interest in the federal practice of law and litigation.
Candidates must be currently enrolled in law school as a 1st or 2nd year law student, be in good academic standing, and possess strong research and writing skills. All students MUST be U.S. Citizens.
Note: Participation in the Summer Intern Employment Program is limited to a total of three years.
Candidates are eligible to participate no more than three years, collectively or consecutively, in the Summer Intern Employment Program.
Candidates who have reached the three years in the program will be deemed ineligible to participate this calendar year.
This is an Excepted Service Position in the Architect of the Capitol, a Legislative Branch agency of the Federal government. The position does not require or confer civil service Competitive Status.
