This summer 2026 internship is for college students interested in information technology, where you'll help with creating security training materials, reviewing policies, and supporting IT security teams in a federal court office.

The Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts (AO) is seeking motivated students for its Student Internship Program.

This opportunity is ideal for students interested in federal service and human resources management.
All students in the Student Internship Program must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a degree-seeking student, taking at least a half-time academic or technical course load in an accredited two-year, four-year, graduate, or post-graduate program.
Students must also be in good academic standing, maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Additional Qualification Requirements:In addition to meeting the BASIC QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS, applicants must also: Work well in a team environment.
Have very strong organization and communication skills and be detailed oriented. Have a working knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft 365.
Have excellent writing, reading, and interpersonal skills, and be able to organize a variety of assignments simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
The ideal candidate will be an undergraduate or graduate level student working towards Information Technology degree. The Student Internship Program requires all participants to be active students.
Therefore, seniors graduating at the end of the current semester will not be considered unless they are continuing to pursue advanced studies as a degree-seeking student at the beginning of the next semester.
Major Duties:
The AO is seeking applicants for its Student Internship Program with backgrounds or demonstrated interest in the following areas: human resources, public affairs, law, business administration (marketing, budget, accounting, etc.), and information technology.
The opportunity is intended to provide valuable work experience and prepare students interested in a public service career.
Student interns will have an opportunity to improve their writing, research, analytical, logical, multi-tasking, and customer service skills.
Additionally, student interns are provided with several networking opportunities with fellow interns, agency employees, and other government employers.
All internship opportunities are onsite at the Thurgood Marshall Federal Judiciary Building. Telework is not permitted.
This internship opportunity is in the Department of the Chief Information Officer, Information Assurance Branch.
Duties include, but are not limited to: Participating in the development of information security training content and attending the training sessions.
Assisting in review and development of information security documents such as policies and procedures.
Working with assigned Information System Security Officer team members to observe and assist them in their daily duties.
Developing best practices, standard operating procedures, and configuration guidance.
