Full Job Description

The Baltimore County Department of Recreation and Parks is accepting applications for Fishing Center Attendants - Loch Raven Fishing Center Summer Seasonal Employment.

Schedule: 40 hours per week - Summer Season (Memorial Day to Labor Day)

If selected for employment, a work permit will be required for ages 16 to 17.

Location: Must have reliable transportation. Facilities are not served by public transportation.
Loch Raven Fishing Center is located at 12101 Dulaney Valley Road, Phoenix, Maryland 21131.

Definition of Responsibility
This position assists in operating an assigned Fishing Center.

Requirements

Job Purpose
Under the direct supervision of the park ranger and/or assistant manager, will be responsible for assisting in the operation of the Loch Raven Fishing Center.

Examples of Essential Job Duties
  • Attend to the needs of the fishing center patrons.
  • Assist patrons with the location and safe use of rental boats and motors.
  • Encourage the proper use of trash receptacles and toilet facilities.
  • Maintain fishing center facilities in a safe, sanitary, and attractive condition.
  • Prepare rental boats and equipment for the use of patrons, including carrying 12-volt batteries.
  • Perform painting, repairing, and light grounds keeping at the fishing center as directed.
Examples of Other Duties
Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications

Must be at least 16 years of age by May 1, 2026

Must be able to work weekends and holidays throughout the summer and have days off on weekdays
Must have reliable transportation
Facilities are not located on public transportation lines
Must be able to pass a criminal background check

Preferred Qualifications
Persons with a current Certified American Canoe Association Paddlesports Safety Facilitator (or equivalent) will receive special consideration
Current First Aid/CPR/AED will receive special consideration
Water safety knowledge will receive special consideration
Ability to interact with people in a helpful, courteous manner
If not a current Certified American Canoe Association Paddlesports Safety Facilitator (or equivalent), are you able to attend training arranged by Baltimore County at the start of the season

Preferred Consideration
Applicants having the ability to work the entire season, from Memorial Day to Labor Day, will be considered first.

EXAMINATION PROCEDURE
Applicants will be qualified based on an evaluation of their training and experience as stated in their application, including their responses to the supplemental questions. Applicants must state the dates and duties of past and present experience clearly and completely for evaluation purposes.

Additional Information

Seasonal Non-Merit positions are not classified within the Baltimore County Government Classification and Compensation Plan.

Seasonal positions are not included in the Employees' Benefits Plan.

Applicants who can work the entire season, from Memorial Day to Labor Day, will be considered first.

A work permit is required for employees ages 16 to 17.
