Position Overview:
The Michigan Department of Treasury’s Office of Revenue and Tax Analysis (ORTA) plays a vital role in shaping state tax policy by forecasting economic conditions, estimating revenue impacts of policy changes, and administering key revenue sharing and grant programs.

Treasury seeks a highly organized and detail-oriented professional with strong analytical and communication skills to support the ORTA Bureau Director in all areas of responsibility.

This position is critical to ensuring smooth administrative functions, assisting a team of economists, and advancing Treasury’s mission.

This position works across multiple teams to review Bureau work products to ensure accuracy, compliance with legal and procedural requirements, and timely completion of projects.

This role offers an opportunity to provide policymakers with top-notch research and work closely with experts shaping state tax and economic development policy.


Key Responsibilities:

As the State Assistant Administrator to the ORTA Bureau Director, you will:

  • Provide comprehensive support across all facets of Bureau’s operations.
  • Serve as the designated liaison for economic development matters, facilitating communication across agencies and stakeholders.
  • Analyze incentive programs and evaluate legislative proposals.
  • Prepare analytical materials and reports to support decision-making.
  • Coordinate internal and external communications, including occasional public speaking.

Education
Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.

ExperienceState Assistant Administrator 15Four years of professional experience, including two years equivalent to the experienced (P11) level or one year equivalent to the advanced (12) level.Note: A position is considered professional if the job requires a bachelor's degree.

Qualifying ‘professional experience’ is only taken into consideration post-bachelor’s degree.
