Base salary range: $74,441 - $96,770
Typical requirements: 1 year specialized experience at GS-11. Advanced degree + significant experience.
Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This role supports the front office of the U.S.
Department of State's Visa Services by managing document flow, reviewing materials for quality and accuracy, and providing guidance on visa policies to staff and officials.
It involves handling sensitive issues and coordinating policy updates to ensure smooth operations in visa issuance worldwide.
A good fit would be someone with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and experience in government or administrative support roles dealing with policy and documentation.
This position is assigned to the Front Office of the Directorate of Visa Services, Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA/VO/FO).
VO functions and responsibilities encompass all aspects of visa policy, procedures, and information related to U.S. visa issuance to foreign citizens who are applying at U.S.
Embassies and Consulates worldwide seeking to come to the United States. Applicants must meet all the required qualification requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement.
NOTE: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements, by the closing date of this announcement.
Time-In-Grade Requirements: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions, per 5CFR 300, Subpart F.
Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience in reviewing incoming and outgoing documents for content, appropriateness, timeliness, and internal consistency.
Experience in preparing detailed written reports. Experience in handling a wide range of critical and sensitive issues and actions.
Experience in providing advice and guidance to management officials and staff. Experience in coordinating new or proposed policies, regulations, and legislation on programs and operations.
There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-13 position. Major Duties:
