Requirements

As a Special Education Advisor, you will be responsible for investigating consumer complaints, conducting cyclical monitoring in local education agencies, reviewing and approving of intermediate unit and school district special education plans, and managing additional statewide functions as designated.

In this role, you will serve as the single point of contact within your assigned unit for the Compliance Monitoring and Planning Divisions, completing pre-monitoring arrangements, on-site activities, preparing preliminary reports, as well as reviewing and approving the final report.

Work also involves implementing corrective action plans, monitoring the implementation of court decisions, collecting data, and participating in public meetings for students with disabilities.

You will have the opportunity to collaborate with various divisions, bureaus, departments, and agencies to address concerns related to special education services.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • This position is home headquartered. In order to be home headquartered, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Five years of professional experience in special education including two years as an administrator of a special education program; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training, which includes two years as an administrator of a special education program.
