THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a SOCIAL WORKER, Position Description Number D2209000 and is part of the PA Deputy Chief of Staff G1, National Guard.

1 or more Position(s) may be hired against this Announcement. Indefinite W/ Rollover Position may lead to permanent assignment without further advertisement.

APPOINTMENT STATUS: EXCEPTED This is a Dual Status Excepted Service Technician position in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard.

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: Bargaining Position AOC 1: NG Employees at the Deputy Chief of Staff G1 AOC 2: NG employees in the Deputy Chief of Staff G1 AOC 3: NG Employees of the Pennsylvania National Guard AOC 4: All service members of the Pennsylvania National Guard (This includes M-Day Soldiers, Temporary Technicians and AGR Personnel) TEMPORARY PROMOTION/REASSIGNMENT: Currently employed permanent technician selected will occupy this position as a Promotion not to exceed or Reassignment as appropriate in their present status.

INDEFINITE: Indefinite employment status pertains to applicant nominated, who are not a currently employed permanent technician.

Indefinite appointments may acquire permanent status depending upon future force structure requirements; indefinite appointments do not serve a trial period.

Indefinite appointments may be separated when their services are no longer needed or when funding is no longer available via a 30-day termination notice.

Military Grades: OFFICER O1-O3 Supervisor for this position is MAJ Keller *NOTE: Accessioning into this position is contingent upon verification of Secret Security Clearance GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Knowledge of social work theories, principles, techniques, and resources is mandatory.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 36 months of experience in clinical social work assignments.

This experience demonstrates particular competencies of knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.

Must have specialized experience in professional social work that includes interviewing people to establish the nature and extent of their problems, helping them work-out plans for improving the situation, providing assistance and services, referring them to community resources and other organizations as indicated, and assisting them to understand and modify their own patterns of behavior when appropriate.

Except as stated above, no other substitution of education for specialized experience is allowed.

Education - Master's degree in Social Work from a graduate school of social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) and acceptable to The Surgeon General.

Must have professional unrestricted state licensure. QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Length of time is not of itself qualifying.

Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed.

The applicant's record of experience, training, and education must show possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position to be filled.

SPECIAL NOTE: Per the Merit Promotion and Placement Plan (MPP) if there are more than 15 qualified applicants for each position, by category, a KSA board will be convened in accordance with Chapter 4 of the MP3.

Major Duties:

As a SOCIAL WORKER, GS-0185-12, you will coordinate with the National Guard community serving military and non-military agencies to promote and achieve timely information exchange, coordinate collaborative prevention efforts, and establish and maintain an extensive array of resources, associations, and community partnerships.

Conduct needs assessments, intake evaluations, and psycho-diagnostic assessments. Coordinate, and implement prevention and community outreach and education programs.

Coordinate as the key facilitator and team lead in the development and implementation of an annual, Unit-level psychological health strategic plan as described in Department of Defense Guidance.

Develop, teach, and provide oversight for classes that promote education and skill-building to enhance psychological and physical health. Responsible for marketing and marketing evaluation activities.

Provide professional assessment, advice, education, and training to other military and non-military health care professionals, medical personnel, military commanders/senior leaders, and community agencies concerning primary and secondary prevention programs.

Perform other duties as assigned.
