This job involves leading a small team to plan and carry out projects that help salmon populations recover in the Snoqualmie River area, working closely with local governments, tribes, and community groups to restore habitats and manage grants.
It's ideal for someone who loves teamwork, problem-solving in complex partnerships, and making a real difference in environmental protection.
The role mixes office work from home with on-site visits in a supportive county agency focused on equity and sustainability.
In addition to the current opening, this recruitment may be used to establish a pool of qualified candidates to fill future Project/Program Manager IV Career Service positions throughout the Department of Natural Resources & Parks (DNRP) over the next 6 months.
Are you passionate about implementing local salmon recovery projects and programs?
Do you enjoy working with elected officials, tribes, non-profits, and agencies, navigating complex relationships and solving problems to achieve tangible outcomes?
This role is perfect for someone who relishes the idea of steering a productive and nimble team to focus on the highest priorities for salmon recovery, while supporting partners by removing barriers and sharing strategies and funding.
About the Role:
The Salmon Recovery Manager (Project/Program Manager IV) for the Snoqualmie Watershed Forum manages a team, including supervising two mid-career professionals, to work collaboratively with local jurisdictions, tribes, non-profits, and agencies to plan and implement science-based salmon recovery actions.
You’ll have the opportunity to coordinate with local elected officials to award grant funding and advance scientific knowledge about salmon and their ecosystems, while directing the work of a small team and acting as the liaison between King County as the service provider and the Snoqualmie Watershed Forum partners.
This position follows a hybrid work model, blending remote and in-person work.
About the Team:
The Snoqualmie Watershed Forum staff team is one of three watershed-based salmon recovery teams in King County, focusing on implementing the federal Puget Sound Salmon Recovery Plan while also meeting King County’s goals for Clean Water and Healthy Habitat, Strategic Climate Action, and Equity and Social Justice.
The Snoqualmie Watershed Forum team focuses on implementing habitat restoration and protection actions in the King County portion of the Snohomish Basin (WRIA 7), including the Snoqualmie River and South Fork Skykomish River watersheds.
The Snoqualmie Watershed Forum operates under an Interlocal Agreement between eight local governments and tribes, is locally funded, and receives over $2 million dollars annually to administer through a grant program.
Key achievements from this funding over the past 25 years include setting back and removing over 2.5 miles of bank armoring, reconnecting over 400 acres of floodplain, and planting over 200 acres of riparian areas.
