This is a special internship program through the City of Spokane Police Department for active-duty military members, reservists, guardsmen, or their qualified dependents who are transitioning to civilian life within 180 days of discharge.

It offers hands-on experience in roles like police officer, records specialist, dispatcher, crime analyst, or IT analyst, while the military continues to cover pay and benefits at no cost to the participant.

It's ideal for service members wanting to explore law enforcement careers and build relevant skills without financial risk.

Key Requirements

  • Must be an active-duty service member, selected reserve, guardsman, or qualified dependent
  • Participate within 180 days of discharge or release from active duty
  • Served at least 180 continuous days on active duty
  • Attach a completed Personal History Statement (PHS) from PublicSafetyTesting.com to the application
  • All Military Occupational Codes (MOCs) accepted
  • No prior civilian law enforcement experience required, but military background preferred

Spokane PD offers this program to retiring and transitioning Service members, providing opportunities to participate in industry training programs as they move into civilian careers.

During a Service member’s participation in the SkillBridge program, the DOW takes care of their Military pay and benefits, offering a valuable experience to the Service member.

Qualifications
