Full Job Description

Travels assigned routes, assisting stranded motorists with vehicle services such as fuel, water, tire changes, jump starts, etc. Travels assigned routes, assisting emergency response agencies during incidents. Clears travel lanes of disabled vehicles and debris and assists with emergency traffic control. Records incident response activities at incident scenes, and communicates this information, as needed, to the Traffic Management Center (TMC) dispatcher. Inputs all recorded data daily. Assists in the cleaning and maintaining of incident response vehicles and facilities as directed. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

A high school diploma and six (6) months of related experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence. Necessary Special Requirement: Employee must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license.

The physical demands for the essential functions of this position involve bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, grasping and physically manipulating objects of varying size, shape, weight, and material. Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs. This position requires corrected 20/20 vision. May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies. Frequently exposed to outside environment in all weather conditions and noise on a daily basis. Work environment is generally in a truck and in close proximity to heavy and fast-moving traffic. Position requires attending and successfully completing training classes on diverse topics such as Traffic Control, Basic First Aid, CPR, Hazardous Material Identification, and Defensive Driving. Due to location and severity of incidents, this position will require working in close proximity to heavy, fast-moving vehicular traffic. Position requires mobility, manual dexterity, and excellent vision. Response duties may take longer than assigned hours; therefore, extra hours may be required. Position also requires the occasional working during inclement weather. Position requires the employee to deal with co-workers, professional colleagues, and the general public in a productive and courteous manner. Position requires sitting and/or standing for prolonged periods of time, seeing, hearing, and speaking. Position requires lifting and utilizing a variety of equipment and supplies, which may weigh up to 80 pounds.
