The Architect of the Capitol (AOC), Superintendent, Senate Office Buildings is seeking a journey level Sheet Metal Mechanic for the Assistant Superintendent Tenant Services Division, Sheet Metal Section to form, join and assemble and install sheet metal components of air conditioning, heating, ventilation, copper roofs and kitchen appliances.
You must meet all eligibility and qualification requirements by the closing date of the job announcement. You must meet the following SCREEN-OUT(S) required for this position.
Indecently joins, assembles and installs sheet metal components in roofing, welding and ventilations. Major Duties:
Tour of duty for this position is: Monday-Friday 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Work schedule may require some occasionally mandatory overtime on holidays AND weekends.
The individual selected for this position will: Sheet metal mechanics at this level plan, lay out and develop templates to construct, assemble, and install irregular items and systems.
Systems used by sheet metal mechanics at this level have various combinations of features including: cornices, canopies, transition elbows and oblique, truncated or frustum cones.
Evaluates damage and/or wear to sheet metal components and systems. Disassembles, repairs, fabricates, assembles and installs sheet metal components.
Uses various measuring tools to measure size, angles and patterns for repair, replacement and/or modification.
Plans and lays out templates for construction and repair of components for heating, ventilation and air conditioning duct work, kitchen equipment and exhaust hoods and copper roof components.
Uses welding, riveting, soldering, mechanical fasteners, forming machines and other tools of the trade to join and assemble components to prevent system leaks.
Traces leaks and removes old roofing, replaces sheathing, boards, beams and joists, replaces cracked sections of roofing and installs roofing felt or other topping material.
Uses hand and power tools and machines such as slip roll forming machines, box and pan brakes, crimpers, rotary machines with extra forming rolls and beading machines.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
