Summary

This job involves handling service requests for maintenance and repairs at a U.S.

Army base in Kansas, such as receiving calls or emails from people needing help, checking if the requests are valid, and entering them into computer systems to get them assigned to workers.

About the Position: The Service Order Clerk position is located with the Directorate of Public Works; Business Operations and Integration Division; Work Management Branch located at Fort Riley, KS.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience operating automated systems; inputting and retrieving information from computer databases; maintaining automated reports; and answering customer inquiries.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60.

Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-04).

Major Duties:

  • Responsible for the receipt of service orders by telephone, in person, in writing, or from shared e-mail inbox and US Army Maintenance applications (ArMA).
  • Review requests to determine if work meets criteria for a service order by determining priority (emergency or routine), adequacy and accuracy of information provided to input into an automated system.
  • Operate an incoming shop line and responds to request from shops or foreman requesting worker show are in the field that need to be contacted.
  • Monitor service order backlog based on assigned service order priority and timetables established for completing work.
