Job Description

Summary

This role involves leading a team of toll collectors at an international bridge in El Paso, where you'll handle cash and currency from vehicles and pedestrians, count and reconcile daily revenues, and ensure smooth operations across shifts.

Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED or higher, and two (2) years of cash handling, toll collection, or cashiering experience.


Licenses and Certificates: Some positions may require a valid Texas Class “C” Driver’s License or equivalent from another state by the time of appointment.

Requirements

Under general supervision, as a lead worker, collect bridge tolls, count toll currency or parking meter revenue, and supervise toll collectors on assigned shifts.

Qualifications

As a lead worker, plan, guide, monitor and perform the work of toll collectors at an international bridge. Involves: Prepare to open lanes.

Verify, assign, and distribute the starting cash drawer to collectors on each shift.

Collect tolls from passing vehicles and pedestrians in both United States (U.S.) and Mexican currency and make correct change.

Process vehicular traffic by proper classification, count daily collections, reconcile receipts, prepare daily reports, operation of toll collection systems, and securely deposit receipts at the end of the work shift.

Perform work duties of toll and parking meter revenue collection in the E-Fast Pass Office and money room. Involves: Accurately count, verify, and reconcile U.S.

and Mexican currencies (pesos) from daily toll and parking meter collections. Reconcile receipts. Audit and reconcile cash reports and E-Fast Pass Payments.

Calculate Mexican peso gains/losses using fluctuating exchange rates. Prepare daily revenue, exchange rate, parking meter, and credit card reports. Securely deposit receipts at the end of the shift.

Calculate toll collector starting currency bags, and provide replenishments as needed. Identify counterfeit bills.

Prepare daily revenue, deposits, and starting currency bags to be transported by armored car service. Complete manifests for Armored Car Services.

Perform data entry in the financial management system to record payments. Travel to other City-owned bridge locations to perform duties as necessary.

Send emails, answer calls, handle sensitive credit card and check information, assist customers with opening and closing accounts, and troubleshoot online applications and accounts.


Respond to inquiries and complaints.

Involves: Answer questions and provide directions, respond to complaints from the public, assist in resolving problems that may occur, and interact with a wide range of U.S.

Customs and Border Protection Officers (CBP), Police Officers, security personnel, coworkers, and the public.


Supervise and coordinate the daily work of toll collectors, maintenance, and contractual personnel including security and custodial services. Involves: Assign, schedule, guide, and monitor work.

Appraise employee performance and review subordinate supervisors’ appraisals. Provide for training and development. Counsel, motivate, and maintain harmony.

Identify and resolve staff differences, conflicts, and deficiencies. Interview applicants; recommend hiring, termination, transfers, discipline, merit pay or other employee status changes.

Enforce personnel rules and regulations and work behavior standards firmly and impartially. Approve leave requests and document absences.


Related duties as required. Involves: Perform duties of coworkers as necessary to ensure continuity of operations during absences.

Advise supervisor promptly of situations, issues, or complaints that have or could lead to deviation from expected results.

Maintain accurate records and prepare daily reports of collected and deposited revenue. Assist in training new employees.
