What you will be doing:
In this role, you will support the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) Unit by collecting and reviewing annual eligibility documentation to ensure it meets Federal and State requirements. You’ll help keep the eligibility process moving smoothly by evaluating submissions for completeness and routing them appropriately.
You will also serve as a key resource for staff, partners, and applicants, providing clear guidance on program policies, eligibility criteria, Home and Community-Based Waiver services, and available supports. This position allows you to build strong program knowledge while directly contributing to services that make a meaningful difference for Alaskans with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The working environment you can expect:
This position is located in Anchorage, Alaska, at 1835 Bragaw Street.

This location is convenient to shops, restaurants, and local Anchorage trails.

This position is scheduled for a 7.5-hour workday; start and stop time can be flexible between the hours of 8 am and 5:30 pm.

The ideal candidate will possess some or all of the following competencies in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications listed below.
  • Knowledge: Working knowledge of health care, social, or senior services and delivery systems. Some knowledge of the rules, regulations, policies, precedents, and terminology used in the work.

  • Writing: Recognizes or uses correct English grammar, punctuation, and spelling; communicates information (for example, facts, ideas, or messages) in a brief, clear, and organized manner; produces written information, which may include technical material, that is appropriate for the intended audience.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Shows understanding, friendliness, courtesy, tact, empathy, concern, and politeness to others; develops and maintains effective relationships with others; may include effectively dealing with individuals who are possibly difficult, hostile, or distressed; relates well to people from varied backgrounds and different situations; is sensitive to cultural diversity, race, gender, disabilities, and other individual differences.

  • Communication: Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and convey technical information to lay people.

  • Computer Skills: Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work.

Requirements


High school graduation or equivalent:

AND

Three years of clerical experience with one year of experience in public health, health care services, senior services, medical assistance programs, health education, nursing, medical social work, health services administration, or a closely related field.

Substitution: College education from an accredited college with a course emphasis in social services or a related field may substitute for the required experience.
