Perform safety and compliance inspections of vehicles-for-hire. Verifies, updates and inputs vehicle inspections into proper database. Conducts field compliance enforcement for vehicle-for-hire operators. Issues citations to operators in violation of vehicle-for-hire code of ordinances. Testify in court against violators of city ordinances. Will be required to drive on city business. Performs other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Position is physically comfortable. Must be available to work weekends and evenings. Will be working outdoors on many days.

Requirements

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and simple mathematical functions like percentages, ratios, etc. as might normally be acquired through attainment of a high school diploma or GED.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
One (1) year of work experience in document research, investigations, or a closely related field is required.

MINIMUM LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
A valid Texas Driver’s License and complies with the City of Houston's policy on driving (AP 2-2).

Qualifications

Strong verbal and written communication skills. Experience in a regulatory or law enforcement environment.

Must be available to work occasional weekends and evenings.

**Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.**
