Full Job Description

You will serve as a Senior Posture Advisor and Manager in the Assessments Division of the J5 Strategic Planning and Policy Directorate, Headquarters, United States Indo-Pacific Command (HQ USINDOPACOM).

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-14) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector demonstrating the duties of a Senior Posture Advisor capable of preparing and securing the approval of theatre posture plans, making recommendations to top levels of leadership and contributing to the planning and implementation of policies and strategic direction for operations.

Specialized experience must include some or all of the following: 1) Demonstrating experience working across DoD and the interagency advancing combatant DoD/USG posture requirements and global force management requirements.

2) Demonstrating an understanding of DoD and interagency approaches to posture planning.

3) Demonstrating recent experience supporting and participating in combatant command senior leader engagements and planning, to include that with foreign governments in the Indo-Pacific region.

4) Demonstrating the ability to lead teams in sensitive and complex planning. 5) Plans, designs, and implements and manages programs and resolves problems that arise.

  • You will brief DOD and Interagency Officials on posture priorities and operations
  • You will provide strategic appraisals, analysis, and recommendations to the Commander regarding posture planning
  • You will generate written directions and guidelines for interpreting and applying theater and national planning guidance
  • You will provide supervisory oversight and direction to accomplish all daily administrative functions required to successfully execute the day-to-day operations of the Branch
