Job Description
The Senior IT Systems Administrator will administer and maintain mission-critical public safety applications and systems, including CAD, RMS, Mobile, and related integrated platforms. This position will oversee server and service monitoring for availability, performance, and security, ensuring continuity of operations for Police, Fire, Sheriff, Corrections, and other agencies. Other tasks include leading technical projects such as upgrades, migrations, interface deployments, and application integrations across multi-agency environments.

Essential Duties
  • Systems Administration & Support - Lead the administration, maintenance, and optimization of critical public safety applications and systems (CAD, RMS, Mobile, and related platforms). Ensure high availability, performance, and compliance with CJIS and county security standards.
  • Project Implementation & Integration - Manage and execute technical projects, including system upgrades, interface integrations, and application deployments. Collaborate with vendors, internal IT teams, and public safety agencies to deliver reliable solutions on time and within scope.
  • Monitoring, Troubleshooting & Incident Response - Proactively monitor server, application, and service health. Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues impacting Police, Fire, Sheriff, Corrections, and other agencies. Provide Tier 3 support and lead root-cause analysis to minimize downtime.
  • Documentation, Compliance & Continuous Improvement - Develop and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and change management records. Ensure systems meet audit, CJIS, and county compliance requirements. Identify opportunities for process automation, efficiency gains, and cost savings.
  • Provide Tier 3 support, troubleshooting and resolving complex issues escalated from IT staff and agency personnel. Ensure compliance with CJIS, county security policies, and audit requirements through proper configuration management and documentation.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs, technical documentation, and change records to support knowledge transfer, continuity, and accountability.
  • Collaborate with vendors, IT divisions, and public safety stakeholders to implement solutions, coordinate testing, and validate system changes.
  • Automate and streamline routine processes such as monitoring, reporting, and deployments to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Support data integrity and interoperability by validating information flowing across CAD, RMS, Mobile, Jail Management, Warrant, and other integrated systems.
  • Mentor and guide junior staff by providing technical expertise, reviewing work, and promoting professional growth within the Public Safety Solutions team.
Other Job Requirements/Information
  • This job is a civilian position in either a public safety department or in Information Technology with close ties to public safety. Due to the sensitive nature of this position, a public safety background which may include motor vehicle & criminal histories, and fingerprinting.
  • This job may require on-call rotation and emergency after hours, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • This job is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule after an initial probationary period and individual approval.
Grade
The grade for this position is C45(1). Salary will be dependent on education and experience.

Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree Computer Science, IT or in a related field AND
  • Five years of progressively responsible, professional level analyst and systems experience in a large scale Information Technology environment
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
  • Certifications in ITIL V4 Foundations, Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, CompTIA A+/Network+/Security+ preferred.
