King County Metro’s Business Intelligence team is looking for an outstanding leader to fulfill the role of Senior Business Analyst.
The successful candidates will provide business intelligence, performance management, continuous improvement support and guidance to the Metro Transit Department and Divisions within.
The selected candidate will work with and lead teams that are responsible for performance management, data analysis, business process evaluation, analysis and strategy development that help determine impacts and promote positive outcomes in key focus areas such as reliability, cleanliness, safety, Finance, People, Operations, Sustainability and Equity and Social Justice.
They will utilize data to make decisions, develop actions and strategies that support the Department’s objectives to maximize efficiencies related to policy, organizational structure, process change, and service delivery efforts.
This role is primarily responsible for providing business intelligence and analytics support to improve Metro's efficiency, productivity, affordability, accessibility and focus on service excellence and equity and social justice through performance measurement and continuous improvement.
This position may lead studies and perform analytical and statistical analyses on a variety of complex, multi-dimensional issues impacting diverse programs, policies, systems, and processes.
As a Senior Business Analyst, you will work with and lead cross-functional, inter-disciplinary teams to help identify performance metrics, analyze problems and develop solutions to issues with significant impact to the Department and/or Division, County government and the community.
You will also work with leaders and managers in vision setting and strategic planning and provide Business Intelligence and process improvement guidance and training to contributors throughout the Department.
About the Business Intelligence TeamThe Business Intelligence Team falls within Metro's Finance & Administration division.
Metro's Finance and Administration division supports other Metro divisions and department leadership by providing consistent and cross-functional enterprise-wide support services to advance Metro's strategies and targets through evidence-based management.
The Business Intelligence team serves this function by developing data structures through the development of a data warehouse and the creation of data products such as data visualization, analytics and tool development.
The Business Intelligence team also drives the growth of business literacy throughout the organization by developing a data-based business review process focused on performance and continuous improvement.
Position Info: This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) Special Duty Assignment/Term Limited Temporary (SDA/TLT) Senior Business Analyst classification vacancy.
The SDA/TLT is anticipated to last until December 5, 2027, and may be extended.
In addition, this selection process may be used to generate an eligibility list for future Special Duty Assignment (SDA), Term Limited Temporary (TLT), and Career Service (CS) vacancies that may occur in this classification within this workgroup.
The eligibility list will be retained for 12 months from the date of posting and may be used at the discretion of the hiring authority.

Other Position Information Work Location: This is a hybrid position. The team works in a hybrid model, with days in the office as well as telecommuting.
Currently the team is required to work 1 day in office on Tuesdays each week. In office requirements are anticipated to increase to 2-3 days per week in 2026.
The ratio of remote to onsite work will be dependent on business needs and is subject to change. The primary onsite location is King Street Center, 201 S. Jackson, Seattle, Washington 98104.
Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
King County has a robust collection of tools and resources to support working remotely.
The individual selected for this opportunity will join an innovative and progressive team that is redefining how we work as we transition to the department's hybrid environment.
Employees will be provided with a County-issued laptop and must maintain a home workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours.
Work Schedule: The position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not overtime eligible. The typical workweek is 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday.
