The City of Pasadena Department of Information Technology is seeking a skilled Senior Applications Developer to support the City's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Applications Team.

As a Senior Applications Developer, you’ll specialize in the Tyler Munis ERP system and play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining applications that improve how the City works.

Requirements

  • Customize ERP workflows to match business needs and implement automation (e.g., alerts, approvals, scripts).
  • Architect and manage integrations with third-party platforms.
  • Provide code reviews, technical mentoring, and architectural guidance to junior developers or analysts.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot integrations between the ERP and other systems.
  • Manage data quality, including cleanup, deduplication, and normalization.
  • Investigate and resolve ERP application errors, bugs, or performance issues.
  • Provide Tier 2 support to business users and collaborate with IT and vendors for root-cause analysis.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, and SQL artifacts (e.g. queries, Views, Stored Procedures) using built-in tools or external BI platforms such as SSRS and Power BI.
  • Proactively identify inefficiencies, automate workflows, and align system functionality with evolving business needs.
  • Maintain technical documentation for customizations, workflows, and configurations.
  • Administer ERP user roles and permissions in alignment with business policies.
  • Technical lead for ERP upgrades, updates and workflow redesigns; create test cases and assist with unit, integration, and UAT testing.
  • Automate workflows and processes to improve efficiency across departments.
  • Ensures data integrity and security.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in management information systems, computer science or a closely related field; AND

  • Six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in application configuration, development and systems analysis.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Tyler Munis ERP application experience with a focus on Financial and/or Payroll and Human Resources modules.

  • Experience with reporting and analytics tools such as SSRS, Power BI, or similar platforms.

  • Microsoft SQL Server, TSQL, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), stored procedures are required.

  • Microsoft .NET Frame work and ASP .NET web development using C# is highly desirable.

  • Familiarity with Application Lifecycle Management (ALM), including managed/unmanaged solutions, environment variables, and governance best practices for low-code platforms.

  • Ability to translate business requirements into clear, actionable technical specifications.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaborative within cross-functional teams.

  • Strong communicator, capable of leading projects and influencing technical direction.

  • Stays abreast of industry trends; maintains up-to-date technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional associations.

SELECTION PROCESS:

The selection process will consist of any combination of training and experience evaluation, written/performance exam, panel or phone interview, and/ or department-level interview.

Probationary work period is one year.
