This job involves supporting and developing computer applications that help process Social Security Disability claims for a Pennsylvania government office, including monitoring systems, fixing issues, and training users.

Your work as an Applications Developer 1 will include highly complex data processing applications residing on various SSA hosted servers and other associated Windows and web-based operating platforms, which support BDD’s federally mandated objectives.
Work is assigned in a detailed fashion and performed with guidance from the technical supervisor or team leader.
You will be tasked to participate in the development of objectives for the proposed system, monitor daily processing activities to identify and report processing anomalies in a timely manner, and assist with system and program coding, testing and documentation.
You will have the opportunity to participate in the gathering of user information pertinent to the analysis, development, and design of complex electronic data processing applications associated with BDD’s core business functions and provide training to appropriate personnel on the developed systems.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, in office Tuesday and Thursday.
In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.
If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.
