Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position.

Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled.

Qualifying experience would be demonstrated by: -Experience utilizing expertise in personnel security case management to conduct detailed prescreening interviews, submitting initial and periodic background investigations, and timely reporting of derogatory information while serving in a critical security role such as a Special Security Officer (SSO) or Assistant Special Security Officer (A/SSO).

-Experience leveraging information gathered from conducting incident-based interviews to make critical security judgments, including making final access determinations as a Personnel Security Specialist or formal eligibility determinations as an Adjudicator.

-Experience applying proficiency in physical security management for classified environments to conduct comprehensive Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) inspections and/or systematically preparing a facility and its personnel for oversight and compliance reviews.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will serve as a Security Specialist in the Security Directorate at U.S. Fleet Cyber Command.
  • You will lead processes that involve the safeguarding of information, personnel, facilities, property, materials, and other assets from theft, loss, misuse, fraud, disclosure, or espionage.
  • You will conduct security reviews for incoming and departing personnel to ensure appropriate access controls are properly granted and maintained.
  • You will provide continuing oversight and control of classified materials, including handling and storage.
  • You will be responsible for enforcement of the standards set forth in the DoD Information Security Program, DoD Manual managers.
  • You will serve as a member of Inspector General (IG) team for inspections of security program operations at subordinate commands.
  • You will advise management on matters regarding reinvestigation requirements, personnel assurance programs (i.e., ongoing checks on employee reliability), and the maintenance of current clearances.
  • You will support security activities by obtaining and providing additional information, or by facilitating meetings between stakeholders as required.
  • You will identify security gaps, specify requirements to address/mitigate the deficiencies, implement corrective measures, and conduct follow-up actions.
  • You will support the command’s security education program by conducting annual security training, both in-person and via other communication avenues.
