Job Description

Summary

This job involves managing secure communication materials for the Navy, including handling, storing, and training others on sensitive items to keep information safe.

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following; 1.) Developing local policy and implementing instructions, 2.) Monitoring and maintaining all command Communications Security (COMSEC) materials in regards to proper storage and physical security, 3.) Training all required personnel on proper handling of COMSEC materials, 4.) Interpreting policies at a higher organizational level or national level, 5.) Submitting security clearence investigations for all staff and students, 6.) Utilizing a varitey of security equipment and devices, and 7.) Providing technical advise in reference to COMSEC for classified and unclassified research programs, security operations and procedures.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will serve as the Budget, Supply and Minor Property clerk for the command.
  • You will identify and resolve issues involving security requirements.
  • You will acquire and monitor the command Communications Security (COMSEC) material allowance.
  • You will ensure accurate preparation and submission of all account correspondence and accounting reports.
  • You will conduct inventories and destruction of COMSEC material in accordance with the required policies and procedures.
  • You will verify that physical security measures are taken while transporting COMSEC within the command.
  • You will report an known or suspected insecure practices immediately.
  • You will conduct monthly and quarterly spot checks.
  • You will communicate with military, governments and commercial points of contact as need to procure COMSEC materials.
