The primary purpose of this position is to manage Security Forces criminal indexing program and serve as a principal advisor to the Security Forces Commander on criminal indexing activities.
Manages and coordinates all aspects of the criminal indexing process with applicable installation entities, the MAJCOM, and the Department of the AF Criminal Justice Information Cell.
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems.
Examples of specialized experience includes applying knowledge of commonly applied security principles, concepts, and methodologies in criminal indexing to implement and administer the Criminal Indexing Program; applying judgment when weighing variables such as access restrictions and personnel qualifications; Applying knowledge of standardized applications in security criteria involving considerations such as clearance levels required and adjudication of security clearances; Applying knowledge to determine eligibility for access to classified information when the incumbent.
OR EDUCATION: master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible.
One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of the laws, regulations, and issues related to criminal indexing, investigation, criminal booking process and collection, the preservation of evidence, and the safeguarding of confidential and classified information Skill in maintaining strict and meticulous data and item accountability, ensuring compliance and defensibility under legal scrutiny.
Skill in applying tact and diplomacy to advise and inform organizational leadership on complicated, sensitive, and controversial issues, even in difficult circumstances, while safeguarding confidential and classified information.
Skill in using computers systems, including automated systems and networks. Ability to plan, organize, and direct functions and stakeholders to inspire and guide others toward goal accomplishment.
Ability to communicate effectively with others, both orally and in writing, and to apply these skills to instructing on procedures, preparing reports, responding to inquiries, negotiating procedures, leading teams, and presenting to management officials.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:
DUTIES: DUTY 1: Implements and administers the Criminal Indexing Program for the Installation. DUTY 2: Manages the criminal booking and indexing process for Security Forces investigations.
DUTY 3: Liaisons with installation entities in support of law enforcement mission. DUTY 4: Provides assistance for technical investigative support tasks.
DUTY 5: Serves as the Security Forces Squadron primary or alternate evidence custodian. DUTY 6: Serves as criminal history records custodian.
