In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems.

Examples of specialized experience includes applying knowledge of commonly applied security principles, concepts, and methodologies in carrying out information,personnel, and physical security programs for the organization; appluying knoweldge of the methods of performing such duties as conducting inspections and investigations, collecting andanalyzing information, etc., and skill in weighing the impact of variables such as critical personnel qualifications,variations in building construction characteristics, access and entry restrictions, equipment availability, and otherissues that influence the course of actions taken in resolving security questions and issues, OR EDUCATION: master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible.

One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.

NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of security concepts, principles, and practices to plan and implement security procedures for physical, personnel, and information security programs within the organization.

Knowledge of required security training concepts, programs, procedures and practices to assist managers in complying with established security programs.

Skill in developing, analyzing, and evaluating multiple security programs (personnel, physical, and information) to meet mission requirements and improve the security program for the organization.

Knowledge of governing supply regulations, policies, procedures, instructions, and program requirements for performing such duties as requisitioning and issuing equipment.

Ability to communicate orally and in writing, through clear, concise, and technically accurate written materials.

Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers, contributing to a cooperativeworking environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.

Other significant facts pertaining to this position are: 1. Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft. 2.

This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program.

Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.

Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety. The employee is subject to random drug testing. 3.

The duties of this position meets all requirements as a category 4 designation, and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the parent Federal Agency or office to function effectively.

This position must be removed from the Ready Reserve and CAN NOT become a member of the Ready Reserve. (IAW: DoDD 1200.7, "Screening the Ready Reserve,") 4.

Required to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance. 5.

Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) conferral is required within 2 years of the established employee EOD or initial assignment date to this position in accordance with DOD 3305.13- M, DoD Security Accreditation and Certification and AFI 36-2645, Security Professional Certification and Development.

The listed certification requirements may not be deleted or modified without the written approval of the AF Security Functional Authority (SAF/AA) or their delegated security career field representative.

6. This position is designated as a key position IAW AFI 36-507. Duties of this position are essential to the accomplishment of wartime/contingency operations.

Incumbents of key positions must be removed from their military recall status if alternative for filling of the position during an emergency are not available.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.

You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:

The primary purpose of this position is: To protect the organization from espionage, terrorism, and threats of unauthorized disclosure and/or compromise of information or material considered vital to command mission interests, national defense or national security and serve as a security specialist, providing limited information, personnel, and industrial program support for the installation.

DUTY #1: Monitors the overall security administration program for the organization.

Provides guidance and assistance to supervisors and managers in the areas of physical, information, personnel and limited industrial security.

DUTY #2: Implements policies and procedures covering the safeguarding of classified information. DUTY #3: Participates in Unit Security Managers meetings. Serves as unit security manager.

DUTY #4: Serves as Agency's equipment and supply officer. Maintains equipment accountability for the Agency. Exercises a thorough knowledge of the Agency's operation.

DUTY #5: Implements unit security education and motivation programs.

Advises managers of security training requirements, changes in security procedures, publication of security directives, and enhancements designed to increase security awareness.
