Summary

This job involves creating and enforcing security rules to protect sensitive government information, conducting checks and training to ensure people follow them, and preparing plans for emergencies at a defense agency in Orlando.

To qualify for a Security Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in, or related to, this position.

To qualify for the NH-03 level, specialized experience must be at the NH-02 or GS-11 grade level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector.

Creditable specialized experience includes: Providing guidance of policy and procedures relating to personnel clearance and access.

Developing or conducting training of information and personnel security. Determining suitability of personnel for access to classified information.

Conducting security inspections to ensure implementation and compliance with requirements of the information security program. Major Duties:

  • Develops information security policies for the protection of Special Access Prog or SCI classified information.
  • Prepares internal operating procedures, and conducts annual self-inspections.
  • Briefs/Debriefs personnel on classified information.
  • Verifies background investigation/clearance levels of personnel.
  • Prepares and implement physical security surveys and inspections.
  • Prepares emergency plans for the protection of personnel, property and facilities.
  • Conducts periodic security awareness training and provide instructional material to personnel who have access to classified material.
