Full Job Description

You will serve as a Security Officer GS-0800-11 in the Administrative Department, Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The purpose of this position is to serve as the Command Security Manager.

The position functions as the Principal Advisor on information and personnel security in the command, responsible to the Commanding Officer for management of the program.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: ): 1) Developing procedures, methods, techniques, and policies for the protection of defense information; 2) Analyzing and evaluating the character, background, and history of employees, candidates for employment, and other persons having or proposed to be granted access to classified or other sensitive information, materials, or work sites; 3) Processing security investigations by utilizing Electronic Questionnaires for Investigations Processing (e-QIP) system, Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS) and Case Adjudication Tracking System (CATS) Personnel Security Management Systems; and 4) Verifying employee Personnel Security Investigations are properly prepared for forward movement.

  • You will implement Information Security procedures and processes so classified material is correctly determined in compliance with security regulations
  • You will administer the management of a Personnel Security Program by implementing policies and procedures.
  • You will investigate and analyze a variety of security problems, questions, or conditions associated with general security or specialty areas to develop solutions.
  • You will administer Information Security matters (e.g., Anti-Terrorism, Force Protection, classified material storage) to evaluate the effectiveness of the security program.
  • You will establish criteria for measuring an organization's effectiveness in achieving security objectives and goals.
  • You will monitor the effectiveness of safeguards and security programs to meet program goals and objective.
