Summary

This job is for a security officer at a Pennsylvania state facility that helps people recover, where you'll be the main point of contact for visitors and ensure everyone stays safe by checking buildings, managing traffic, and handling emergencies.

Requirements

As a Security Officer 1 you will be responsible and accountable for the safety of residents, employees, and visitors by securing facility grounds, buildings, exit doors, and adjacent roadways.

You will use knowledge of sound safety principles and practices, react quickly, and remain calm in emergencies to maintain a safe environment for our campus. This will include:


  • Operating the Communications Center, switchboard, surveillance equipment, and related equipment
  • Regulating parking and traffic to maintain safety and security
  • Issuing warnings and citations for parking and traffic violations
  • Patrolling buildings and grounds on foot and by vehicle
  • Protecting and guarding property and persons from fire, theft, trespass, or other hazards
  • Completing reports and documentation of occurrences and activities
  • Determining level of response needed during fire and other safety emergencies
  • Performing investigations and providing follow-up recommendations for corrective action

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 2nd shift (3:00 PM to 11:00 PM), with no unpaid lunch. You will have rotating days off including weekends.

  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Special Requirements:

  • You must be in possession of a valid Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle operator's license.

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
