Commander, Navy Installations Command

Base salary range: $26,979 - $35,074
Typical requirements: 6 months general experience. Some college or vocational training.
Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves working as a security guard at Navy installations in Hawaii, where you'll check IDs, inspect vehicles and packages, control access to restricted areas, and patrol for any suspicious activity to keep everyone safe.

Entry-level positions start at GS-03 with general experience, while higher grades require specialized security tasks.

SALARY BY GRADE GS 03 $36103-44,329 GS 04 $40649-52850 GS 05 $45479-59118 GS 06 $50697-65904 GS-06:Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Authenticating identification for access to restricted areas; 2) Regulating pedestrian and vehicular traffic to maintain traffic flow and security operations; 3) Granting or denying personnel access into restricted areas; and 4) Preforming private and commercial vehicle inspections and package inspections following prescribed procedures to ensure only authorized property is brought into or removed from facilities.
GS-05:Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Screening and/or inspecting personal and commercial vehicles requesting installation access; 2) Controlling personnel access by verifying identification/credentials; 3) Patrolling buildings or perimeters for suspicious activity; and 4) Maintaining desk logs, desk journals, and pass-down logbooks to document security events.
