The primary purpose of this position: This is a developmental position with known promotion potential to the target position of Security Assistant, GS-0086-05, PD# 0951H.
Incumbent works closely with the supervisor in performing duties identified in the full performance standard core personnel document/core document.
Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions.
Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:This position at the GS-03 level requires six months of general experience.
General experience is described as progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1.
Knowledge of basic security processes and procedures. 2.
Knowledge of a standardized security methods for access/entry control specialist operations, procedures, and terminology to perform access control work independently in a variety of fixed-post and building check assignments.
3. Ability to learn organizational procedures sufficient to perform building checks and monitor the identification of persons entering controlled building areas. 4.
Knowledge of one or more automated databases associated with a specific security function to support office and security operations. 5.
Knowledge of general clerical and office functions and procedures, as well as the basic rules of grammar, spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and standard abbreviations. 6.
Ability to plan and organize work, follow instructions, and accomplish multiple ongoing tasks. 7. Ability to communicate effectively and courteously both orally and in writing.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.
You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
