Job Description

Summary

This entry-level IT cybersecurity role in the Navy involves using technical skills to access and analyze computer networks, exploit security weaknesses, and maintain tools for data control, primarily at the GS-09 level with some higher duties at GS-11.

Key Requirements

GS 09: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Conduct on-net and off-net activities to control, and exfiltrate data from deployed, automated technologies 2) Operate and maintain automated systems for gaining and maintaining access to target systems 3) Knowledge management, including technical documentation techniques and 4) Develop and utilize tools, techniques, and procedures to exploit a target.

GS 11: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Provide input to the analysis, design, development or acquisition of capabilities used for meeting objectives 2) Facilitate interactions between internal and external partner decision makers to synchronize and integrate course of action in support of objectives 3) Provide planning support between internal and external partners and 4) Document and communicate complex technical and programmatic information.

  • At the GS-09, the following duties assigned include:
  • You will conduct access enabling of wireless computer and digital networks.
  • You will exploit network devices, security devices and/or terminals or environments using various methods or tools.
  • You will access current tools to identify needed improvements.
  • You will identify applications and operating systems of a network device based on network traffic.
  • At the GS-11, the following duties assigned include:
  • You will work independently, but within the framework of the established practices and prescribed procedures.
  • You will perform more complicated assignments under close supervision of the supervisor.
  • You will be provided detailed and specific instructions for developmental tasks and tasks involving the use of unfamiliar formats, methods and procedures.
  • You will refer problems not covered by the supervisor's instructions or guides to the supervisor for help or a decision.
