Full Job Description

You will serve as a SECURITY ASSISTANT in the COMMAND OPERATIONS GROUP, SECURITY DEPARTMENT of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-05) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applying security concepts, principles and practices to administer a security program and resolve security issues.

Examples of specialized experience include: 1) Analyzing and implementing procedures for information; 2) Interpreting and applying agency guidelines, regulations, and policies; 3) Working knowledge of security equipment, systems, and devices; and 4) Assisting with conducting physical security surveys and vulnerability assessments to identify deficiencies within the program.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will serve as a Security Assistant located in the Security Office, coordinating visitor control, providing security reception and performing security assistant duties.
  • You will support various security programs, including personnel, industrial, physical, and information security, ensuring compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of the Navy (DoN) regulations.
  • You will process new employees and reviewing security clearance data in Defense Information System for Security (DISS) to determine Personnel Security Investigation (PSI) status and access requirements.
  • You will manage personnel security briefings, verify clearance status, and ensure Classified Information Nondisclosure Agreements (SF-312) are recorded in DISS.
  • You will coordinate outgoing visit requests involving security clearance certification and access to classified information for FRCSW personnel using DISS and other systems.
  • You will issue Common Access Cards (CAC) and ensure compliance with established procedures.
  • You will process visit requests for VIPs, military personnel, DoD civilians, contractors, and government officials using DISS.
  • You will coordinate visitor access with Naval Base Coronado (NBC) Security and Visitor Control Center office personnel, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with access procedures.
